Time and Rehearse Your PowerPoint Presentation

Set timings for a slide show

If you don't want to physically move through a slide show, there are two methods you can set the length of time a slide becomes visible on the screen. One way is to set a time physically for each slide, and then run the slide show and sight the timings you set.

The other way is to use the trial feature, where you can record timings mechanically as you rehearse. You can also regulate the timings you've already set and then practice the new ones.

What do you want to do with the PowerPoint Presentation?

• Set slide show timings by hand

• Set slide show timings mechanically while rehearsing.

• View reviewed timings during a slide show.

Set slide show timings manually

• In slide or slide sorter view, select the slide or slides you want to set the timing for.

• On the Slide Show menu, hit Slide Transition.

• The Slide Transition pane comes in sight.

• Under Advance Slide, click Automatically after, and then enter the number of Seconds you want the slide to appear on the screen.

• To affect the timing to all the slides, click the Apply to All Slides button.

• Repeat the process for each slide you want to effect the timing for.

• To view the timings, hit the Slide Show.

Set slide timings automatically while rehearsing

• On the Slide Show menu, click Rehearse Timings to start the show in rehearsal mode.

• Press the advance button when you're prepared to go to the next slide.

• When you accomplish the end of the slide show, hit Yes to accept the timings or No to try again
